Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), the largest airline in Northern Europe, announced plans to reduce staff. The separations will affect about 5,000 full-time staff. The coronavirus pandemic affected both international flights and air travel within Northern Europe, leading to significant financial difficulties. This was reported by the Swedish news service Sveriges Radio on April 28. In their address, the Scandinavian Airlines management stressed that the current crisis caused by coronavirus infection means that it will take many years before the demand for flights returns to pre-pandemic levels. The 5,000 staff separated will be distributed as follows: 1,900 staff in Sweden; 1,700 in Denmark; and 1,300 in Norway.
