Russia allocated $2.8 million for the development of two regions of Armenia

The Russian Federation allocated $2.8 million within the framework of the project on the development of the Weitz-Dzor and Hegarkunik regions of the Republic of Armenia. This was announced on February 14 by the adviser of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Armenia Dmitry Stepanov in a comment of RIA Novosti. The adviser to the Embassy of the Russian Federation specified that the money was allocated to the Russian Federation within the framework of the trust fund Russia UN Development Program. He also clarified that the project would last three years and would include both tourism and rural community development. Stepanov also noted that earlier with the support of the Russian Federation the project of development of the Tavush region of the republic was supported. In 2015, according to the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, Armenia was allocated more than $5 million for the implementation of the project on rural development of the Republic in 2015 2019. The Head of the Government of the Republic of Armenia confirmed that Russia is a strategic partner for Armenia. He also expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between States would be stronger.
