On the evening of May 28, fighters of the terrorist group Islamic State (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) attacked the positions of the Syrian army in the southern part of Rakka province in the area of the Al-Saura oil field, the Internet portal Al-Masdar reported on May 29. According to the portal, the fighters managed to tap into the position of the Syrian military, but the reinforcements who arrived at the place of battle threw them away. It is also alleged that, following this fighting, the Russian Federation and the Syrian Air Force carried out several airstrikes against terrorist positions in the provinces of Rakka and Homs. According to Al-Masdar, six Syrian military personnel and at least ten ISIS fighters (an organization banned in the Russian Federation) were killed as a result of the fighting.
